FORUM: Early childhood education AT THE CROSSROADS

BigSteps_web.jpg

This year the Australian Government will be making some big decisions about the future of early childhood education in Australia. And it’s up to us to make sure they make the right decisions.

We need them understand that Australia cannot afford to compromise on quality standards for our children. There is nothing more important than the future of our children.

Through our Big Steps campaign we have built an inspiring vision for our sector: where quality is at the heart of early childhood education, and where every child gets the best possible start in life. That means high quality programs, one-on-one time with children and low staff turnover through professional wages.

We cannot afford to go backwards to poverty wages for educators, endless staff turnover and uneven standards for our children.

If we believe that in this important vision then we need to stand together as a community and fight for it.

That’s why at 10am on Saturday 3 May educators, directors, employers and parents will be coming together at William Angliss Institute to launch our plan for the future of early childhood education and care in Australia.

Australian children deserve the best start in life – there can be no compromise on quality.
