Early Childhood Education & Care

United Voice is the Early Childhood Education union, with thousands of members across every state and territory.

Through our national campaign, Big Steps, we're fighting for early childhood members to be valued for the vital role we play educating children in the early years, through professional pay.

As Australians we pride ourselves on living in a country that values hard work, a fair go and equal opportunity for all. But the gender pay gap here has grown in the past decade. Working in a female dominated sector like ours, early childhood education and care, means that we're some of the lowest paid professionals in Australia.

A responsible government that wants to address the gender pay gap would have already delivered us the respect we deserve: professional pay that recognises our essential role in society.

Everyone agrees that all stages of a child’s education are invaluable – whether they are learning to count or solving a year six maths question. Yet as early childhood educators we are paid a 1/3 less than those teaching and caring for children just a few years older.

A responsible government that values every child would value every educator. It is time for our pay to reflect the essential role we have in shaping the future, one child at a time.

As a united workforce, standing together in our union, educators are a powerful force for change. There has never been a more important time to be a union member. Join now.
